"From medical mission trips, to research in labs, to shadowing doctors at any one of the University’s affiliated hospitals, the mentorship within the Healthcare Professions Mentoring Program has been incredibly helpful."
"I was lucky to have the opportunity volunteer in a health psychology research lab and participate in a summer research program through the psychology department as an undergraduate. I couldn’t be happier with my decision and I cannot wait to start my career as a PA."

"I recommend that students start using the Office of Pre-Health Advising and Mentoring right away. It’s a great resource for any pre-health questions and to feel more confident on the path you’re on."

"As a pre-health student, I had the opportunity to go on three mission trips where I gained clinical experiences in remote communities by setting up pre-health clinics — learning to take patient histories, perform physical exams, and come up with a diagnosis under local doctors in the area."

"Double majoring in two disparate fields is a challenge no matter where you are, but UM gave me the flexibility necessary to obtain degrees in chemistry and music. UM offers plenty of resources, and I found that people were always happy to help me on my unique path."
"Since joining pre-health, I have been able to attend healthcare career weeks, which came with potential job opportunities as well as the opportunity to meet many graduate schools. I have encountered some great advisors and professors who have helped me with anything that I needed.”

“The coolest part about the Pre-Health track is that it helped me discover other health-related areas I never knew about. I’m interested in public health now and hope to follow those passions after graduation in the Peace Corps as a Maternal Child and Teenage Health Educator. I participated in service-learning trips to Central America, landed a job at a local orthodontics office, and conducted research with one of my professors in Sexual Health Dissemination. The Pre-Health track is a great way to explore different avenues and prepare for the real world of healthcare.”
